Product Developer

On-site | Full-time in Nashville, TN.

Ranger Station is a leading candle and manufacturing company, renowned for high-quality, nature-inspired candles. We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Product Developer and Sourcing Specialist to join our team. This role is pivotal in overseeing the end-to-end product development process, managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring seamless sourcing and production of our exceptional candle products.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing and Vendor Management:
  • Navigate the landscape of sourcing to identify and engage with reputable vendors for raw materials.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing to secure favorable agreements with vendors.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring reliability and quality in the supply chain.
  • Effectively manage vendor performance and resolve issues as they arise.

 

  • Product Development:
  • Drive creativity and innovation in product development, contributing ideas and concepts for new candle products.
  • Lead the project management of new product initiatives from conception to market launch.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with brand identity and quality standards.

 

  • Calendar Management:
  • Take charge of the product calendar, ensuring that all milestones and deadlines are met.
  • Work closely with internal teams to coordinate and pivot plans based on updated forecasts and market trends.

 

  • Forecasting and Inventory Management:
  • Forecast raw material needs based on sales projections and market demand.
  • Manage core raw materials, overseeing inventory levels and optimizing stock for efficient production.

 

  • Financial Management:
  • Understand and manage the financial aspects of the role, including purchasing, accounts payable, and cost sheet management.
  • Negotiate effectively to optimize costs while maintaining quality standards.

 

  • Relationship Management:
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders and team members.
  • Handle difficult relationships with vendors gracefully and negotiate tactfully.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Business, Supply Chain Management, etc.).
  • Proven experience in product development, sourcing, and vendor management, preferably in the consumer goods or manufacturing industry.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to manage difficult relationships.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to contribute to product development ideation.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in financial management and understanding of cost structures.

Job Summary:


As a Fragrance Guide at Ranger Station, you will be responsible for leading customers through a fragrance journey. You will be expected to have an unsurpassed knowledge of the product, how it is made, and the Ranger Station story. You must represent the brand well through creating a welcoming atmosphere that encourages customers to explore the Ranger Station products.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a welcoming, educational shopping experience for all customers
  • Engage with customers to learn their fragrance preferences and recommend products
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of all fragrance and candle contents, ingredients, and manufacturing processes
  • Maintain a clean and organized storefront, including product displays and inventory management
  • Attend and participate in team meetings, training sessions, and events
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and product knowledge

Requirements:

  • Passion for fragrance and candles
  • Comprehensive knowledge of perfume and candle ingredients and manufacturing processes (don’t worry - we’ll help out with this!)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
